Consultation

Consultation services are offered to the trade and select clients, on a per-project basis, dependent upon individual needs.  At The Rug Designer's Studio, we believe respecting the visions of our clients is the key to providing superior service.  We pride ourselves on patience and process – listening to the needs and direction each special project holds.

The Rug Designer's Studio can assist you with a current project by enhancing your design decisions using years of industry experience and expertise.  We can accompany designers in a showroom of their choice or provide design services using our own sources.   Along with any custom rug design project, The Rug Designer's Studio offers professional consultation and guidance.

Training

The Rug Designer's Studio, offers training, lectures and seminars to the interior design community, private showrooms and select clients.  The RDS assists designers in all aspects of rug and carpet design, collection development and color direction.  Director of Design, Deborah Hernandez, offers experience and skill ensuring creative solutions, which she offers generously to designers who need assistance with their carpet and rug projects – no matter how unique.

The experience of designing on the computer changed her life, but Hernandez still teaches her rug design class, at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, in the organic sense. Her students are trained to draft in pencil, mix color to match yarns and hand paint in scale.  Hernandez believes foundation is evident, and everything, in design.

As Owner and Director of Design of The RDS, Hernandez will continue to write courses for future designers and industry education.  Plus, in the near future, the RDS will be providing student internships for aspiring rug designers.
